Each of the sermons from ten MacDonald novels has an introduction giving some explanation of the setting of the sermon or of the plot, if that is necessary for understanding the sermon.

A Novel Pulpit is the first in what is planned as a bi-annual book series by The Center for the Study of C.S. Lewis and Friends at Taylor University.

David L. Neuhouser was Professor Emeritus of Mathematics at Taylor University. He served as Mathematics Department Chair, Director of the Honors Program, and Director of the Center for the Study of C. S. Lewis & Friends. He is the recipient of awards for teaching and for writing and has been a speaker at conferences in the U.S. and in the U.K. In addition to many articles and reviews, he compiled the anthology, George MacDonald: Selections From His Greatest Works. He is the author of Open to Reason and chapters in three books.
